Fleet Foxes hand out ‘Grown Ocean’

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on 4 May, 2011 by Chapperdeemus

To celebrate yesterday’s release of Helplessness Blues, Fleet Foxes have made the album’s closer ‘Grown Ocean’ available for free online.

This is a gesture of large generosity, considering the unbelievable quality of this song. To release the stand-out track on an already fantastic album is pretty good of them.

But we already known where Robin Pecknold stands when it comes to music’s value, thanks to NME’s very insightful article last month. Nahhhhtt.

So, if, for some crazy reason, you have ignored this album, give ‘Grown Ocean’ a listen, and you’ll beg for more. Amazon will be happy to oblige, though Pecknold would try to talk you out of paying for it.

Fleet Foxes unveil new album and song

Fleet Foxes have been using the social networks to keep us up to date on their new album over the past 18 months, saying they’ve started, claiming it’s finished, retracting that claim, claiming they’re re-writing and basically keeping us all very unsure about its actual progress.

Well, we now have some definitive news from their Facebook page. Not only a release date, but a new track and title.

So, it’s out on May 3rd. It’s going to be a long 4 months to wait for this one. The above Facebook update is a bit ambiguous, but it appears that both the new track and the album itself is called ‘Helplessness Blues’ (that is so them).

Hear the track below, and check out their new tour dates here.
