I woke up today to a text from fellow Hotcakes writer Ollie saying simple this: Gil Scott-Heron RIP.

Taken from the his forthcoming second album, ‘Gospel of Opal’ makes FaltyDL’s first experience with a featured vocalist, namely Anneka.
Directed by directed by Ben Soper, this is the second video to surface in anticipation of You Stand Uncertain and it only serves to further whet our appetites. In the mean time, FaltyDL continues to be, well, faultless in his production.
You Stand Uncertain is out 28 March on Planet Mu Records.
Gold Panda’s debut album Lucky Shiner was a huge hit last year (my second favourite electronic album of 2010 after Four Tet’s There Is Love In You) and next month sees the release of the third single ‘Marriage’, complete with remixes from Baths, Forest Swords and label mate Star Slinger.
Above is the official video, directed by Ronni Shendar.
Marriage is out 1 March on Notown.
The mask-wearing artist known only as SBTRKT is fast becoming one of the hottest tips in bass music. It’s easy to see why once you’ve heard his productions; his blend of grime, funky and bass music, topped up with delicious dose of vocals, never failure to hit the spot. His latest single ‘Living Like I Do’ continues in this vein and its release on Young Turks gives it a stamp of crossover authority that most electronic artists would kill for.
The London-based producer’s tunes sit in the soon-to-be-crowded niche between dance genres that have bass as the common denominator. It’s finding new homes for producers of dubstep, house and techno and serving us up fresh talent like SBTRKT on a pretty much weekly basis.
Comparisons to the similarly publicity shy Burial are read all too frequently but SBTRKT’s best work really will strike a chord with fans of the bass master’s work.
SBTRKT – Living Like I Do
Living Like I Do is out 11 April on Young Turks.
Stephen Wilkinson, better known as Bibio, is set to release his sixth album next month. Mind Bokeh will be his first release for two years, despite releasing a total of three albums just in 2009, and his third on Warp Records.
We haven’t got any full tracks to play you unfortunately, but Warp have released an album sampler to give people a little taste of the final package. We can give you one of the best tracks from Bibio’s previous release Ambivalence Avenue.
Mind Brokeh is out 4 April on Warp Records.
