Addison Groove – This Is It

Tony Williams aka Addison Groove returns with a new 12″. You’ll know him from last year’s ‘Footcrab’, the addictive bass/juke anthem that went out on Loefah’s Swamp 81 imprint and he’s continuing with that dancefloor-ready vibe this time out.

Teaming up with Pinch’s Tectonic label, Williams hasn’t shied away from utilising looped vocals similar to previous releases, but we’ll forgive him as ‘This Is It’ features one of the catchiest hooks you’ll hear this year. Complete with pounding 808s, a nod to old style Chicago piano house in the breakdown and support from the likes of Skream, Mary-Anne Hobbs and Distance, we have ourselves a tune is simply irresistible.

The infusion of juke from Chicago with the UK’s bass scenes is something that just keeps on giving and, to my mind, represents one of the best matches since Wills and Kate. Long may it continue.

This Is It is out now on Tectonic.

Get it at Boomkat and Juno.
