New: Arctic Monkeys – ‘Don’t sit down ’cause I’ve moved your chair’

Arctic Monkeys just played their latest track on Zane Lowe’s radio 1 show, finally unveiling their first proper single for their upcoming album Suck it and See.

The song had been announced as the single a while ago, but this is the first time its actually been heard. It pretty much beats the taster ‘Brick by Brick’ they revealed last month hands down.

It starts off with some typical cheeky lyrics from Alex Turner, missing quite noticeably in ‘Brick by Brick’, with a filtered guitar riff in the background. Then the boys do something they never really do and make it kick in quite tremendously on the 40 second mark.

And they have never sounding more like Queens of the Stone Age than they do at that point. It is quite strange to think back to their debut album, when people were comparing them to the likes of the Rolling Stones. I did not see them as a band who would take on the desert rock sound.

They do it pretty damn well considering they are from Sheffield. Can you get any further from a desert?

Suck it and See is out on June 6th on Domino.
